Inclusion and diversity at the heart of the ‘Soundgardening: Von Walzerköniginnen und Marschweibern’ project

This morning, LUGA Asbl, represented by its general coordinator Ann Muller, was warmly welcomed by Ms Yuriko Backes, Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, for the official signing of an agreement for the implementation of the ‘Soundgardening: Von Walzerköniginnen und Marschweibern’ project. This innovative project, initiated by Luxembourg musicologist Danielle Roster, is part of the LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden exhibition programme and reflects a shared desire to promote inclusion and diversity through art and culture.

This project embodies the commitment and ambition of the LUGA, whose values include diversity and equality, to give a voice to female artists and historically under-represented themes.

Danielle Roster is a musicologist and art historian from Luxembourg, specialising in music and gender. Since January 2022, she has been co-supervising the MuGi.lu (Music and Gender in Luxembourg) project with Sonja Kmec, which explores musical activities in Luxembourg from the 19th to the 21st century, from a gender perspective. This work, which focuses on women who have historically been under-represented in music, echoes the themes of the LUGA and fits in perfectly with the main theme of ‘Making the invisible visible’.
