Alzette valley
What can we discover in the Alzette valley?
Discover the Alzette valley
The Alzette valley is a natural treasure in Luxembourg City, where the unspoiled beauty of nature encounters the local history and culture. Well-known for its horticultural past and textile and brewing industries at the turn of the 19th century, today the lush banks of the Alzette river are home to both urban dwellings and natural landscapes. Here, the LUGA exhibition will explore urban ecology, the climate and the various forms of dialogue and expression between man and nature.
Explore the LUGA trail along the Alzette river
Inspired by the natural beauty of the site and its historic past, LUGA invites visitors to explore the themes of art and dialogue along this route laid out through impressive urban gardens designed to challenge our perception of urban space. Art and landscaping foster dialogue and encourage interaction with the public. The LUGA Lab is a temporary structure erected in Odendahl park in Pfaffenthal to promote interaction between generations in a setting designed to rethink the use of public space.
The LUGA programme in the Alzette valley addresses the themes of artistic expression, dialogue and social inclusion in our contemporary societies. Enthusiasts of landscape architecture and art, and lovers of gardens, nature and the great outdoors will be able to enjoy a series of workshops, conferences and informal outdoor gatherings.
