From Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 October 2024, LUGA will be taking part at the Francophonie Festival in Paris on the Luxembourgish pavilion of LuXembourg – Let’s make it happen, at stand N14, located in the Village de la Francophonie at CENTQUATRE-PARIS. This event will bring together the pavilions of numerous French-speaking countries, giving visitors the opportunity to discover the different cultures and riches of the participating countries. They will also have the chance to explore the international pavilions using a fictitious passport to be stamped!
During these days and evenings, the international pavilions will be offering an immersive experience within a colourful scenography, all free of charge. A rich and varied program will be on offer, including theatre, concerts, immersive experiences, digital arts, photography, cinema, and dance and hip-hop performances. Meetings with inspiring personalities and stand-up shows by the best French-speaking artists will round off the event. Join us as well for the presentation on LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden by Ms Ann Muller, general coordinator of LUGA, on Friday 4 October at 5pm at the Agora Écurie.
Admission is free, with activities specially designed for children and adults.
Francophonie refers to all the countries and regions where French is used as the main or official language, as well as the French-speaking communities around the world. The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), which brings together 88 states and governments, plays a central role in this framework. According to the French Language Observatory, published in 2018, there are 321 million French speakers on the five continents. The OIF’s mission is to promote the French language and the values of peace, cooperation, democracy and human rights through cultural, educational and economic activities.
The year 2024 also marks the 70th anniversary of the Franco-Luxembourg cultural agreement, signed on 8 February 1954. This event bears witness to the tradition of cooperation between France and the Grand Duchy, strengthening cultural relations in a variety of fields such as live performance, the arts and heritage. As a member of the International Francophonie Organisation, Luxembourg takes part in the Festival de la Francophonie to promote new forms of cooperation, support young artists and strengthen cultural exchanges.
Many thanks LuXembourg – Let’s make it happen and the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for inviting us to their stand as part of the promotion of the open-air exhibition planned for 2025.
