The 30th of August 2024, the LUGA team, accompanied by Pierre Schmitt, President of the association, enjoyed a wonderful day of discoveries and exchanges in the heart of the city of Metz. It was an opportunity to present LUGA to the parks departments, representatives of the Eurometropole and the organisers of the Metz Constellations Festival, and to explore possible synergies between the two cities.

The team then discovered Jardins d’ombre, Jardins d’eau (“Shadow gardens, Water gardens” in french), an ephemeral garden created by the Metz Parks Department, in the company of one of its designers, Mr. Pierre Mathis.

The day continued with an exceptional moment at the Montgolfiades, a unique event in France, where 30 hot-air balloons took to the skies. We met and chatted with Mr Patrick Thil, Deputy Mayor of Metz responsible for culture and religious affairs, and our graphic designer Solène Buchheit even had the chance to take to the skies above Metz in one of the hot-air balloons.

To round off this enriching day, the team explored the Pierres Numériques trail at the 8th edition of the Constellations de Metz festival, which highlights Metz’s rich heritage, admiring the magnificent works that illuminated the city’s heritage and historic sites.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Mrs. Gwenaëlle Protard, Head of the Cultural Action Department of the City of Metz, Mrs. Lisa Rummenhohl, Project manager at Metz Eurometropole, Mr. Sébastien Marqueton, Director of Parks, Gardens and Natural Spaces for the City of Metz, Mr. Pierre Mathis, Head of the flower and events department of the City of Metz, Mr. Mathieu Malmonté, Head of production of the Metz International Constellations Festival, and Mrs. Melina Castry, Production Manager of the Metz Constellations Festival, for their warm welcome and the wonderful discoveries made during this very inspiring day.
