Roots / Routes is a site-specific, transdisciplinary performance project by the collective Ampersand Variations.
Inspired by fungal mycelium networks, the project explores themes of connection, community, interdependence, and the invisible ties that shape our relationships to place and space. Performed in the gardens of LUGA, in the Alzette Valley, Roots / Routes combines theatre, circus, dance, and live music to create ephemeral performances that emerge from the specific combinations of environment and the stories of locals.
Each performance is uniquely created for each garden, bringing to life the often invisible narratives of people and place.
Through theatrical workshops and interviews, local participants contribute to the creative process, and have the option to join the cast on “stage” for the shows.
