After 439 days of rest in an ideal atmosphere in the heart of the Fort Royal casemates, the 6,000 bottles of Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé are beginning a new chapter in the process of making them.

From now on, the bottles will leave this historic setting for the cellars in Luxembourg’s Moselle region, where they will undergo the ‘remuage’ phase. This delicate process involves removing the yeast deposits that have formed during fermentation. The bottles, tilted at an angle of around 75 degrees, are turned an eighth of a turn each day while remaining upside down. This gradual movement pushes the residue towards the neck, preparing the crémant for the next stages of its sublimation.

This new stage marks a moment of fruition in the design of the cuvée created especially to celebrate the LUGA 2025 exhibition. Combining tradition, local know-how and viticultural excellence, the Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé is the fruit of a unique collaboration between the Fonds de Solidarité Viticole and three Moselle winegrowers’ groups: the Organisation Professionnelle des Vignerons Indépendants, Domaines Vinsmoselle and the Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Vins et Spiritueux. Supported by LEADER Miselerland, the Institut Viti-Vinicole (IVV) and LUGA asbl, this unprecedented collaboration represents a unifying act for the professions of winegrower and oenologist. This special cuvée was developed and supervised by the cellar master at the Institut Viti-Vinicole (Remich), using grapes from different groups of winegrowers.

A success for the exclusive tours of the Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé: a flagship event in the LUGA pre-programme

The launch of the Cuvée LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé in November 2023 was an opportunity to offer exclusive guided tours to the general public as part of the LUGA ‘Sow in 2023, harvest in 2025’ pre-programme. These tours, organised in partnership with the Frënn vun der Festungsgeschicht Lëtzebuerg association, the Fonds de Solidarité Viticole and the GOERES Group, attracted a great deal of interest and attracted around a hundred visitors. Visitors were able to discover the secrets of ageing this exceptional cuvée and taste Luxembourgish wines and crémants afterwards.
