This installation, co-financed as part of the Interreg NWE CASCADE project, makes the most of biochar, a coal produced by the pyrolysis of biomass waste. Its high porosity gives it excellent water and nutrient retention properties, promotes soil aeration and supports the development of microbial life, making it beneficial for agriculture, water filtration or urban vegetation substrates. Biochar is a carbon sink that can be used in construction materials (concrete, asphalt, etc.). Its production generates heat and energy, which can be used in industry or fed into urban networks. A sustainable solution for tomorrow.
This installation is a project of the Council for the Economic Development of Construction (CDEC), co-financed by Interreg NWE CASCADE and carried out in partnership with Uni.Lu, the IFSB, Aerd Lab, Optigrün and Contern S.A.
