Travelling by train

Luxembourg is right at the heart of Europe, bordered by Belgium to the west, Germany to the east and France to the south, offering easy access from each of these borders.

From Germany

  • Trier: 40 km

  • Cologne: 159 km

The train journey from Cologne to Luxembourg City takes around 3 hours, with frequent connections, usually via Trier or Koblenz.

From France

  • Paris : 288 km
  • Metz : 55 Km

By TGV from Gare de l’Est, it takes around 2 hours and 18 minutes to reach Luxembourg City’s central station.

From Belgium

  • Brussels: 187 km
  • Arlon: 24 km
  • Liège: 120 km

The train journey from Brussels to Luxembourg City takes around 3 hours. There are regular direct connections with InterCity trains.

The train journey from Liège to Luxembourg City takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes, with changes at Gouvy or Troisvierges depending on the timetable.

Accessing LUGA from the railway stations

central station:

The exhibition can be reached from the main railway station in just 15 minutes, and there are several stops from which you can reach the various routes.

Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg railway station:

From Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg railway station, LUGA can be reached on foot in about 5 minutes.

People with reduced mobility can also take shuttle bus 1, which will take them quickly and comfortably to the exhibition.

Visit LUGA Nordstad by train

To visit LUGA in Ettelbruck, you can take the regional trains from the central station or Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg station directly to the north of the country.

by bike

Visiting LUGA at a slower pace

Whether you are travelling by bike from the north, west, south or east of the country, LUGA is easily accessible thanks to a well-developed network of cycle paths.

If you are travelling from the north, west or south, the national cycle path CP 1 takes you along the Alzette and through the old town directly to the LUGA in Luxembourg City.

If you are coming from the east, you can take the CP 2 directly to the centre of Luxembourg and the CP 2.

Ettelbruck is easily accessible by bike from the town centre via the CP 1 or CP 2 and then the CP 15 (CP of the Alzette) heading north. Further information can be found on the CFL biking tours

by car

Travelling to Luxembourg City from the west / south

Follow the motorways A1 / A3 / A4 and A6, exit Gaspericher Kreuz, to the P+R Stade de Luxembourg.

There is a direct tram connection from there, which allows you to reach the city centre and thus LUGA quickly and easily in around 30 minutes. Get off at one of the three tram stops Theater, Rout Bréck – Pafendall or Hamilius and visit LUGA on foot.

 

Travelling to Luxembourg City from the north / east

Follow the A7 / A1 motorways, exit 9 Senningerberg (A1), to the P+R Héienhaff. From there, there is a direct tram connection to the city centre.

The nearest tram stops from which you can reach the LUGA exhibition are: Theater, Rout Bréck – Pafendall and Hamilius. LUGA is a short walk from these stops.

by plane

Luxembourg’s national airline, Luxair, connects the capital with many major European cities and other destinations.

Findel Airport is only 6 km from the city centre. Upon arrival by plane, there is a direct tram connection that takes you quickly and easily to the city centre.

The nearest tram stops from which you can reach the LUGA exhibition are: Theater, Rout Bréck – Pafendall and Hamilius. From here it is a short walk to the LUGA.
