This unique cultural event in the heart of Lausanne, which combines landscape architecture and reflection on the city, returns every four years to offer a fresh perspective on urban planning. This year, the theme of Lausanne Jardins 24, Entre l’eau et nous, explores the relationship between the city, its waterways and its lake, highlighting the integration of nature into the urban setting. Running until October 5, 2024, the exhibition offers a fascinating reflection on urban water management and its impact on everyday life and the environment, and highlights Switzerland’s impressive natural beauty and historical heritage.
Guided by Mrs. Monique Keller, exhibition curator, Mr. Remy Poisot, landscape architect and project manager, Mr. Etienne Balestra, head of the Parks and Estates Department, and Mrs. Mathilde de Laage, assistant to the curator, we had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of this exceptional event. Their expert advice gave us a clearer picture of how to organize such a large-scale outdoor cultural event.
We also had the honor of being received by Mr. Steeve Pasche, Director of Lausanne Tourisme, and Mr. Olivier Delapierre, MAS, Head of Tourism & Promotion for the City of Lausanne. Together, we discussed topics such as sustainable tourism, the development and promotion of exhibitions in public spaces, and the challenges and stakes of such an event. It was also a great opportunity to promote LUGA 2025!
These two days were a real source of inspiration, with rich discussions on crucial subjects such as water, biodiversity, the impact of anthropization and current environmental issues. Great reflections on solutions for living in harmony with nature.
