As the opening of the LUGA approaches, the transformation of the city’s green spaces is gathering pace. LUGA’s urban gardens are gradually emerging, taking shape day by day before the eyes of city dwellers and visitors alike. It’s a veritable spectacle, with diggers, designers, gardeners, landscapers and technicians working hand in hand to assemble, build, weld and install each element of the gardens, bringing innovative creations to life.

From the heights of the Pétrusse cliffs and the Viaduct Bridge, or ‘Al Bréck’ in Luxembourgish, the uninterrupted view over the valley reveals a constantly changing landscape. The gardens, created by young designers, are gradually taking shape. Every day, new structures appear, and soon these structures will be home to a wide variety of plants, according to the themes of each garden. At present, the wooden structures are already visible from the sky, ready to receive these plants that will interact harmoniously with the renaturation project of the Pétrusse, initiated by the City of Luxembourg, to promote an ecological balance and improve the quality of urban life.

Further on, from the Adolphe Bridge, a true monument to Luxembourg’s heritage, recognisable by its three arches and masonry vaulted structure, an organic form, similar to a ‘serpentine’, can be seen below the Avenue Marie-Thérèse. This is Life on The Verge by Leon Kluge, an impressive urban garden that highlights the wealth of flora and fauna living on the verges of roads. This unique project raises the question of the place of nature in a dense urban environment, and invites us to reflect on the importance of small patches of greenery that are often ignored.

In the municipal park, the gardens of the Fédération Horticole Luxembourgeoise (FHL) are designed with original corten steel structures and modern shapes that blend perfectly with the park’s natural environment. These areas will be home to a wide variety of plants and will showcase the expertise of professionals in Luxembourg’s horticultural sector. Nearby, l’Exporatif, an innovative garden, will invite everyone to reconnect with nature through olfactory, visual and tactile stimuli, and La Serre des orchidées, a tribute to Jean-Paul Pescatore, the famous orchid collector, will complete the experience.
