An opening day full of discoveries

Farmers’ market: a taste of local produce

Throughout the day, visitors were invited to explore a local farmers’ market, showcasing the richness and diversity of Luxembourg’s regional products. Some artisans presented exclusive creations made specifically for LUGA 2025, including special edition beers from Brasserie Simon, artisanal bread crafted in collaboration with the Fischer bakery, and a herb-infused sausage developed by the Chamber of Agriculture in partnership with the Téi vum Séi range.

During the opening ceremony, representatives from the Nordstad also unveiled the FURRI, an emblematic cocktail born from a close collaboration between the City of Ettelbruck, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Viticulture, and regional producers as part of the Nordstad “Liewensmëttelpunkt” project. The FURRI, a product of local expertise, was created in partnership with Opyos Beverages, Ortea (organic iced tea), and Eppelpress, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture and short supply chains. The call has been made to the public to embrace the FURRI as a true signature of the Nordstad region.

“Food Village”: a gourmet celebration

The “Food Village” brought together local clubs and associations, eager to share their traditional specialties. Complementing this culinary offering, several Luxembourgish food trucks presented a diverse range of delicious dishes, showcasing the country’s creative cuisine.

Activities and shows for all ages

The day was filled with an eclectic and dynamic program: agricultural cultivation demonstrations, outdoor concerts, walking acts, and live interviews with exhibition partners. Children were also well catered for with a special program designed just for them, including the Forscherwerkstatt science workshop and creative play activities, ensuring an enriching and entertaining experience for the whole family.

LUGA Nordstad 2025 thus promises to be an unmissable event, combining ecological commitment, agricultural innovation, a celebration of culinary heritage, and a spirit of conviviality. With this successful opening, Ettelbruck reinforces its role as a regional leader in promoting a more sustainable future, deeply rooted in the values of its territory.
