Using movement and theatre to explore the places and personal stories of the Alzette districts of Luxembourg City (Grund, Clausen, Paffenthal)
With Frieda Gerson et Claire Thill from the collective Ampersand Variations
‘Viewpoints’ is a method of theatrical improvisation and collective creation, developed in the United States and practised in drama schools all over the world. They are designed for professionals in any artistic discipline as well as for non-professionals.
Each performer cultivates their stage presence by focusing on different ‘points of view’ in relation to others and the space. These improvisations produce powerful scenic images in an intuitive, spontaneous and playful way. They develop listening skills, flexibility and overall movement.
Using the ‘Viewpoints’ technique, participants learn to create their own snippets of stories, movement sequences and characters, while enriching their stage presence.
The workshop, organised by the Ampersand Variations collective, brings together professional and non-professional artists and is a working stage in the creation of the Roots / Routes performance, that will take place in spring/summer 2024, in the urban gardens of the LUGA.
It’s an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the work of the collective, as well as to meet and talk with the artists about the preparation and realisation of the final project. If they wish, participants will have the opportunity to take part in the final show.
The creation of Roots / Routes will take place between 13 and 21 May, with performances on 22 and 29 May, 5 June and 18 October 2025.
