LUGA (Luxembourg Urban Garden) was recently featured in the Sunday culinary show GUSTO – de kulinaresche Magazin on RTL Luxembourg.
The episode opens at the LUGA Agriculture Hub in Ettelbruck, LUGA Nordstad, also highlighting demonstrations of agricultural crop cultivation. In full bloom, these plots beautifully showcase the richness and diversity of crops grown in Luxembourg.
A key moment in the episode is the 2000 m² project, led by IBLA, natur&ëmwelt, and co-labor in Kockelscheuer. Tom Van den Bossche, representing natur&ëmwelt, presents this initiative aimed at raising public awareness about the agricultural area needed to feed one person fairly: 2000 m². In comparison, a Luxembourg resident consumes an average of 4000 m², highlighting significant overconsumption.
As part of the LUGA exhibition, this global reflection is translated in a playful way through raised garden beds in the Pétrusse Valley. These illustrate the ingredients required to prepare iconic recipes such as Bouneschlupp (green bean soup) or a burger. These educational installations concretely demonstrate the resources needed to produce simple meals in an urban environment. They show that local, seasonal, and sustainable food can indeed be grown in cities.
Finally, the episode also features a key figure on Luxembourg’s culinary scene: Raphaël Betti, bartender and owner of the BAC – Bar à Cocktails . For LUGA, he created the LUGA Cocktail with local and natural flavors, to be discovered especially near the LUGA Lab in Pfaffenthal, where his creations are available for tasting at his stand.
