Artist Residency – L’OMBILIC DE L’ONDE

Since August 7 and until September 7, Pedro Amaral, a painter from Portugal, has settled in the Pfaffenthal district for the artist residency program launched in 2024 by the non-profit association Canopée Produktion. For this residency, Pedro invited the artistic collaboration of François Baldassare, a scriptwriter-director and passionate painter.

The two artists are immersed in an environment where the urban meets nature, surrounded by Canopée’s vegetable garden, located in the heart of this picturesque neighborhood. The theme of the SOURCE, whether it refers to water or creativity, leads them to explore the connections between the natural cycle and the city. Within this framework, they find an endless source of patterns and colors, feeding their art while highlighting the beauty of harmony between land and urbanity.

Pedro will share his artistic world during several participatory workshops open to the public, on August 16, September 6 as part of Rendez-vous au jardin de Canopée, as well as on October 10 and 12.

Their joint work will be presented within the framework of LUGA, at the exhibition THE NAVEL OF THE WAVE at the Science Hub, from October 10 to 18, 2025. The title symbolizes the source of all dynamics, characterized by an incessant process of creation and transformation.

The opening will take place on October 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Science Hub in Grund.
