Wander Kautsch reflects on urban gardening in Luxembourg, based on the principle of reusable, mobile, stand-alone and self-built garden houses.
The installation focuses on the idea of urban gardening as a sustainable way of life, a way of becoming and being self-sufficient, representing the path towards societal and economic degrowth. Wander Kautsch showcases the design of these garden houses and addresses the theme of replacement with a garden house prototype that could be used according to the circular economy principle. Influenced by the Gartenlaube by architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky (Frankfurt, 1925-1930), Wander Kautsch retains the idea of three spaces: shared space, gardening space and storage space for bicycles. The construction will be donated to a local charity after the exhibition.
