This photographic project explores the quiet transformation of the remains of the Roman villa in Echternach across the seasons.

Through a series of images, the project captures the rhythm of nature as it reclaims and reshapes the ancient ruins, slowly revealing how vegetation, especially in the garden and the surrounding areas, grows and returns, how certain structures endure while others vanish from view. Each photograph is a reflection on time. A testimony on what is lost, what persists and how history leaves subtle, shifting marks on the landscape.

By returning to the same perspectives throughout the year, the project invites viewers to contemplate the layered relationship between past and present, with the architecture and site captured on camera, literally fading in front of their eyes.Martine is a Luxembourg-based portrait, editorial and landscape photographer & director. In her work, Martine constantly aims to visually recreate thoughts, ideas and experiences which are linked to and inspired by various places and people.
