Since 2009, the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA) has been actively committed to supporting the creation and dissemination of works by authors in the field of photography through the CNA grant – Support for creation and dissemination in photography. This initiative aims to encourage emerging talent and promote exceptional photographic projects.

For the 2024 edition, the CNA is partnering with LUGA to launch a special edition of its grant which includes a photographic commission, which will explore themes linked to LUGA as well as to the European Month of Photography 2025.

During this 16th edition of the CNA grant, the artist Liz Lambert will have the honour of presenting her work in an exhibition at the CNA as well as at the LUGA sites in 2025.

TRANSHUMANZ

As part of her transhumanz project, Liz Lambert will focus on the tradition of seasonal transhumance, an age-old practice involving the movement of livestock across meadows, villages and roads. She will pay particular attention to the relationship between humans and animals, addressing the importance of this practice for our society today and in the future, the way in which it creates a link between rural and urban spaces, and its contribution to the preservation of biodiversity.

This project aims to capture the essence of this tradition, which was included on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage in 2023, and to preserve its visibility in the current context. In Luxembourg, only one sheepfold continues to practise this tradition, illustrating the importance of maintaining these ancestral skills.
