As part of the Luxembourg Urban Virgäertchen competition, organised by Gaart an Heem in collaboration with the LUGA, residents and businesses of the City of Luxembourg were invited to celebrate the art of urban gardening through creative, natural and sustainable initiatives.
Garden competitions have long played an important role in Luxembourg. They help promote quality of life, strengthen community spirit and raise awareness of environmental protection. Inspired by the “Villes et Villages Fleuris” competitions, Luxembourg Urban Virgäertchen fully embraces this tradition.
Three categories were open to participants: front gardens, flowered balconies and tree beds. Numerous projects highlighted the richness and diversity of urban gardening.
The jury awarded the prize for the most beautiful private garden photograph to Mrs Bruch, the overall winner of the competition organised in collaboration with the CTF League. She won a Victoria bicycle, kindly donated by Arnold Konz—an ideal model for getting around the city and perfectly aligned with the values of the LUGA, particularly the promotion of soft mobility.
The LUGA warmly thanks all participants for their commitment, as well as the sponsor Arnold Konz for their valuable support and Gaart an Heem for the excellent collaboration.
