On Friday, July 25th, at 11 a.m., the official inauguration of the urban furniture from the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) took place on the square near Boulevard Franklin Roosevelt, by the Casino – Forum of Contemporary Art. The event was attended by Mrs. Martine Hansen, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, Mr. Hanspeter Faas, Director General of the IGA, Mrs. Josiane Entringer, Chairwoman of the LUGA Board of Directors, as well as Mrs. Ann Muller, General Coordinator of LUGA.

These two installations, unveiled for the first time as part of LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden, will remain on display until October 18, 2025. They will then travel to Germany for the next Internationale Gartenausstellung (IGA) 2027, which will be held for the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ruhr region, from April 23 to October 17, 2027.

This international contribution is the result of a close collaboration between LUGA and the IGA. In Duisburg, Gelsenkirchen, and Dortmund, the “Gardens of the Future” will host floral exhibitions and thematic installations centered around the key question: “How do we want to live tomorrow?” This project aims to foster collective reflection on the future of urban spaces while bringing new highlights to the Ruhr region.

During LUGA 2025, IGA’s partner ATECH will present innovative solutions designed to support communities in addressing the challenges of climate change. Key issues addressed include how to sustainably green and enhance impermeable urban squares without compromising mobility or design, while ensuring optimal water management.
