Visite Emwelt- a Bildungszentrum Matgesfeld

Since the 2017 gardening season, the municipality of Sanem has been offering garden plots in a new concept for Luxembourg. These are managed by the Gaart an Heem Gemeng Suessem asbl.

Unlike traditional allotment gardens, the 28 square garden plots (7x7m) are used exclusively for cultivation. The surrounding green space is available for communal use and relaxation, with a picnic bench, bench for resting, barbecue area and a small greenhouse with automatic irrigation. A school garden is available for school classes. The background to the concept is that all elements in the garden fulfill a functional and ecological purpose.

The garden is designed to be close to nature, providing food and habitat for birds and insects. The rose bed, herb spiral, façade greening and various plantings are not only pleasing to the eye of visitors. Farm animals such as bees, chickens and the 3 pigs Minky, Dinky and Pinky also look forward to a visit.
