In 2024, the Troc Party – Back to School Edition was organised for the first time. This solidarity initiative offers a sustainable, inclusive and intergenerational alternative to traditional consumption. The idea? To create a space where families can share their experiences and prepare for the back-to-school period without financial pressure, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s not just about bartering, it’s a real community moment, encouraging human exchanges, solidarity between neighbours, and strengthening the local social fabric.

Held over two afternoons, the Troc Party will give families the chance to drop off and pick up the following items free of charge:

🖍️ School supplies (pens, exercise books, pencil cases, etc.)

👕 Children’s clothes, especially back-to-school outfits

📚 Reading books for children and teenagers

🎒 School bags, satchels and backpacks in good condition

But the Troc Party is much more than just a barter:

☕ Coffee and chat for adults

🎲 Games and colouring corner for children

📚 Solidarity bookshop to swap books

🎶 Music for a festive and relaxed atmosphere

This year’s event was designed to support families during an often costly and stressful time. Thanks to active collaboration with the Maison Relais educators and the Kand a Famill service, the donations generously brought in by residents of the neighbourhood and surrounding areas – children’s clothes, backpacks, school supplies – will be received, carefully sorted and categorised. Donations that are not redistributed will be kept for future actions or passed on to solidarity partners.
