Liz Lamber - Lauréate de la Bourse CNA x LUGA 2024
Since 2009, the National Audiovisual Center (CNA) has been actively committed to supporting the creation and dissemination of authors’ work in the field of photography through the CNA Grant – Support for Creation and Dissemination in Photography. This initiative aims to encourage emerging talents and promote exceptional photographic projects. For the 2024 edition, the CNA is collaborating with LUGA to launch a special edition of its grant. This new version includes a photographic commission, which will explore themes related to LUGA as well as the European Month of Photography 2025.
In this 16th edition of the CNA grant, artist Liz Lambert will have the honor of presenting her work in an exhibition at the CNA, as well as at LUGA sites in 2025. The CAPE (Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck) is pleased to present one of its adaptations.
In 2023, transhumance — the ancestral practice of seasonal movement of people and livestock — was inscribed on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. In Luxembourg, one of the last sheep farms still practicing transhumance continues to cross meadows, villages, and urban landscapes, perpetuating a tradition that has shaped the relationship between humans, animals, and their environment for centuries.
For several months, photographer Liz Lambert followed this farm, capturing the subtle interactions between the shepherds, their flocks, and the territories they traverse. Her work questions the place of transhumance in our contemporary societies, exploring its role in preserving biodiversity and its impact on the dynamics between rural and urban spaces.
