At the crossroads of key societal and environmental trends, the “Sustainable and Engaged Future” workshops aim to bring scientists and the general public closer together.

Inspired by the model of “Cafés des Sciences,” we invite participants to engage in open dialogue with experts, ask questions, and share their opinions during six interactive public discussions. Each workshop is designed as an inclusive space where diverse viewpoints are welcomed and valued. We aim to strengthen the connection between society and the University of Luxembourg by promoting direct interaction, openness, transparency, and public engagement. Join us on this exciting journey to bridge the gap between science and the public, and to work together toward a sustainable and engaged future.

Our fourth public debate is an interactive discussion with Dr. Marija Marić, Dr. César Reyes Nájera, PhD candidate Simona Popova, and Professor Christian Schulz from the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Luxembourg. They will explore how the principles of non-extractive architecture can help develop new design and research methods in the context of the socio-environmental transition.

This discussion will showcase ongoing research on construction and demolition waste, resource extraction, and soil care, exploring their environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Through engaging presentations and discussions, you will discover both the potential and the limitations of non-extractive architecture, and how it can contribute to a more sustainable future.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with experts, share your ideas, and be inspired by transformative practices in regenerative architecture. Let’s work together to build a future where our buildings are not only functional but also environmentally responsible and resource-efficient.
