History of the layout of the city park around the Fondation J.P. Pescatore
The Pescatore Foundation is built on the former forts Berlaimont and Charles. In 1875, the site hosted a large agricultural and horticultural exhibition. The southern part, designated for public walks, was divided into two sections: the “quinconce” – meaning the planting of five trees in a straight line and at equal distances – to the left of Avenue J. P. Pescatore, and the sunken garden on the right-hand side.
A strip of land along the Royal Boulevard remained under state ownership until the completion of the development of the boulevard and the Côte d’Eich. The French landscape architect Édouard André was commissioned to design the parks. Discover the history of this iconic site, intended to host the monument in honour of Grand Duke Jean.
The visit will be held in Luxembourgish
