The Living Pyramid – Agnes Denes, Mudam Luxembourg
Le parc Dräi Eechelen
Visite-Conférence
History of the city parc Three Acrons.
Why did Fort Thüngen survive the dismantling of the fortress structures? How did the landscape architect Édouard André transform the former military site into a forest park?
The hygienist movement identified it as an ideal place for rest and rejuvenation. Concerts and theatrical performances brought life to the area, which was completely redesigned in 1937, featuring the “Pavilion of Independence”, inaugurated in 1939.
Recognized as a tourist attraction, the site was made accessible to tour buses. The establishment of European institutions at the Place de l’Europe marked a new chapter for the area.
The opening of the MUDAM (Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean) and the Dräi Eechelen Museum, along with the redesign of the surrounding area, have transformed the site into an urban park that is continuously evolving.
The visit will be held in French.
