Detailed Programme

Conference: Climate Change Adaptation – Global – National – Local

As climate change progresses, its consequences are becoming increasingly evident – and often devastating – worldwide.

In 2024, for the first time, the global average annual temperature exceeded the pre-industrial level by 1.5 °C. In Luxembourg, the 30-year average has already reached this threshold.

The consequences of the climate crisis will pose major challenges to our communities, cities, and municipalities – in the form of heat, drought, heavy rainfall, or floods. The urgency of these issues makes climate adaptation – alongside mitigation – a key element in tackling future crises. Immediate action, cooperation, and exchange at all levels – international, national, and local – are indispensable.

This conference will explore five different perspectives on climate adaptation, sharing strategies and practical approaches.

Speakers:

  • Claudia Hitaj, Ministry of Environment, Climate and Biodiversity

  • Bruno Alves, Ministry of Environment, Climate and Biodiversity
