“There is a saying: ‘When someone goes on a journey, they have many stories to tell.’ But Jessy James LaFleur doesn’t tell tales of leisure or adventure. The Belgo-Germanophone spoken-word artist takes her audience on a poetic journey through borderlands, departures and arrivals, activism, and the longing for a more just world.
She is accompanied live by Berlin cellist Natasha Jaffe, who performs her own original compositions, creating a soundscape in which words and music seamlessly intertwine. Together, they weave language and melody into an intense experience of identity, belonging, and resistance.
DOMA means “home” – a place Jessy has never found and no longer seeks. Instead, through voice and text, she creates a space where the audience can rediscover themselves: between poetry and music, between questions and answers, between the foreign and the familiar.
Duration: 60 minutes. Poetic, performative, activist, moving.
