Organised in the casemates of the forts located beneath Édouard André Municipal Park – notably Fort Lambert and Fort Royal – these guided tours immerse you in military history and the fascinating world of Luxembourg City’s underground city.

The casemates form a fascinating network of tunnels, originally 23 km long, but after the dismantling of the fortress, they now measure only 17 km. The casemates extend under the entire old town of Luxembourg and even extend to the Kirchberg plateau. The first casemates in Luxembourg date back to 1644 under Spanish rule.

The History Friends of the Fortress of Luxembourg association also offers guided tours as part of LUGA. Robert Wagner, president of the F.F.G.L. and former construction engineer who worked for many years for the National History Museum, provides an insight into the history of the casemates in the video.

There are two options available: gourmet tours, which end with a tasting of LUGA 2025 Crémant Millésimé, aged in the casemates themselves, and classic tours, without tasting, but which allow you to discover more forts!

Remember to bring the following equipment: a torch, hiking boots and a light jacket – it can get chilly underground!
