The work of the French artist Laurent Le Deunff (b. 1977 in Talence, lives and works between Bordeaux and Paris) revolves around themes commonly associated with nature, from campfires and attempts to animals and cellars. Straddling a fine line between high-brow art and popular culture, his slightly quirky motifs question the concept and nature of creativity.
For his series of Totems, the artist has sculpted four animal figures – a deer, a fox, a mouse and a turtle-dove – inspired by Luxembourgish literature and lore. While firmly rooted in classic animal sculpture, their forms poke fun at tradition by alluding to a famous brand of candy dispensers.
