Opening Festival LUGA Nordstad

On May 11, 2025, LUGA Nordstad will be inaugurated with a friendly farmers’ market on the Däichwisen in Ettelbruck.
On this occasion, regional producers will showcase the richness and diversity of their high-quality products. Before diving into the six-month-long exhibition and exploring the behind-the-scenes world of food production, the market invites visitors to discover the variety of Luxembourg’s agriculture, meet the women and men behind the products — and of course, enjoy their specialties.
The official opening of LUGA Nordstad will also mark the inauguration of the Sentier Urbain Agricole (Agricultural Urban Trail) in Ettelbruck: an inspiring themed walk inviting visitors to explore agricultural projects, urban gardens, as well as landscape and artistic installations.

1. Däichwisen Stage

The official inauguration of LUGA Nordstad will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM, beginning with a formal ceremony to which the public is warmly invited. This symbolic opening will be followed by a festive concert by the Ettelbrécker Musek.

Visitors are encouraged to extend their experience throughout the day by enjoying a lively and eclectic musical program, creating a friendly and festive atmosphere as they explore the site.

2. Farmers’ Market

Visitors will be able to discover the richness of Luxembourg’s terroir through a selection of stands hosted by regional producers. This special moment will also be an opportunity to taste exclusive products created specifically for LUGA 2025. Among these special editions are the LUGA edition beers brewed by Brasserie Simon, a LUGA bread developed in collaboration with Maison Fischer, and a special herb sausage from the Chamber of Agriculture made with herbs from the Téi vum Séi range.

3. Food Village

In the heart of the “Food Village”, visitors can enjoy traditional specialties made by local clubs and associations. To enhance this culinary experience, a variety of luxembourgish food trucks will also be on site, offering a delicious range of dishes.

4. Activities

On this official opening day, visitors are invited to explore the wide variety of activities offered at the LUGA Nordstad site. The day will be filled with crop-growing demonstrations, open-air concerts, street performances, and live interviews with exhibition partners — all under the theme of discovery and community spirit.

Children will also enjoy a program designed for them, including the “Forscherwerkstatt“ – a scientific discovery workshop – along with creative play workshops. A fun and enriching experience for the whole family!
