In the recently renatured Alzette Park in Ettelbruck, a “Life Tower” is currently taking shape — an original structure that provides valuable habitat for a wide range of animal species, all within a compact footprint. Standing between two and three meters tall, these life towers create ideal conditions for enhancing biodiversity, even in limited spaces.
At their base, dry stone walls and piles of rocks offer shelter and nesting sites for reptiles as well as ground-nesting wild bees, such as the mason bee (Osmia). The upper levels are fitted with specially designed nesting boxes for various wild bee species. A green roof crowns the structure, helping to reduce soil sealing and further supporting the natural ecosystem.
With this initiative, Ettelbruck once again demonstrates its strong commitment to biodiversity and the preservation of nature within the urban environment.
