Le chant de l’Alzette – Racine Carrée, Atelier Ty Maap
haze of polluted harmonies
performance musicale
The wounded Alzette rises, singing, from its bed. With hurdy-gurdy, electronics, and pulsating rhythms, the destruction of water and the effects of pollution are addressed and transformed into powerful soundscapes.

Based on the visual idea of the garden ‘Le chant de l’Alzette’, Hüseyin Evirgen and Ela Baumann make the chant of the Alzette audible, visible.
How does it sound, the maltreated Alzette, after its journey under cities, through over-fertilised fields, chased through sewage treatment plants, cleaned, polluted again? A groping dance over stones, an eternal path – restless and yet in its path.
The sounds of the Alzette form the foundation for an interplay of hurdy-gurdy, electronics and pulsating rhythms. Through decomposition, doubling and flowing sound movements, the river comes to life. Singing, wailing, screeching, the shadow of the Alzette wanders between the creatures it feeds, constantly in motion, a river of never-ending sound.
The boundaries between nature and technology become blurred and driving beats interweave with organic melodies.
